Cy passed away on July 11, 2014 in Evanston. Cy was born on June 5, 1930 in New York City, grew up in the Bronx and lived in Chicago as an adult. He passed away peacefully after struggling for years with health issues. Fortunately he was sustained and cared for by his loving family, supportive friends and dedicated caregivers. With his sharp, curious intellect he avidly followed news of world events, politics, business and finance. He was a gregarious, kind and funny man. The warmth and goodness of his heart was recognized by all who met him.
He generously supported local service agencies by establishing the Cy Peiser Foundation. He passed his sense of humor and compassion first to his three children; David, Sue and Brad, and then along to his three grandchildren; Jacob, Joshua and William. His many friends and family appreciated his progressive thinking and ability to entertain all of us with his great stories. He will be missed.
A Memorial Service for family, friends and caregivers will be held in Chicago at a later date.
Donations can be made in his memory to Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger at https://donate.mazon.org/

Cy and I were friends from the days when he was involved with banking in Lewistown, Il. He was a kind and caring person. I always felt special when we spoke. I will miss him very much.
