Raúl Macías Solís passed away in Chicago on August 27, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was the 6thof eight children born to Felicitas and Santiago. As a young child, Raúl lived with his parents, Santiago and Felicitas, and his seven siblings in a town of Guanajuato, Mexico. The family was together until the untimely death of his beloved Mother. Life was a struggle but Raúl kept his kind heart and compassion towards others.
Raúl loved to tell stories about his childhood in the small town of Guanajuato. There he attended Colegio Instituto Mexico, and he had fond memories of his childhood and schoolmates. When he was a young adult he migrated to the United States, first in Dallas and then he joined his father in Chicago. That’s when he met, the love of his life, and they married and had two children. Raúl always kept his family in his heart. He always had a smile on his face, and loved listening to music and telling jokes. He was kind and respectful to those who knew him.
Raúl is survived by his siblings Juan (Luisa), Jose, Guadalupe (Wilialdo), Maria Esther, Luz (Cesar), Antonio (Mari), Gloria (beloved friend and soul mate) and children Stephanie and Andrew. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles in the US and Mexico.
He is predeceased by his parents Santiago and Felicitas, and his sister Maria de Lourdes.
His family and friends remember him as a free spirit and good-hearted person. He touched a lot of lives in ways he didn’t realize. He inspired others with his joyful sense of humor, compassion, and love for others.
On Thursday, September 1, 2022 there will be a closed casket visitation from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Providence of God Church, 1800 South Union Chicago, IL 60608 with a Celebration of Life Mass at 6:00 p.m.
