Linda Harkness, a vibrant soul with an adventurous spirit, passed away on August 3rd, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on February 2, 1949, she brought warmth and joy to the lives she touched. Linda’s journey took her from her birthplace in Chicago to the rugged beauty of Colorado, where she found solace in the embrace of nature and forged lifelong memories.
Relocating to Colorado was a transformative choice for Linda, where she embraced the great outdoors with open arms and met her husband, John. Together, they reveled in the simple pleasures of life, learning to ride horses, hiking through breathtaking landscapes, and conquering the rush of white-water rafting. Linda’s love for the natural world was also evident in her passion for gardening, where she cultivated beauty and found peace in the midst of her garden. An adventurous spirit, Linda loved to explore new horizons and traveled extensively with her family and circle of friends, creating cherished memories that will forever echo in their hearts. Linda’s heart overflowed with compassion, as evident in her dedicated volunteer work at the senior center in Lyons, Colorado.
Her selflessness shone brightly as she lent a helping hand to those in need, embodying the spirit of community and kindness. Above all, Linda cherished her relationships with friends and family, holding them close to her heart.
She is survived by her loving sister Margie, her son Adam and his wife Chimere, who held a special place in her heart, and her adoring grandchildren Cody, Maya, and Phoenix, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Linda’s nieces and nephews – Jessica and her husband Mayo, Gino, Nik, and Lauren – also shared in the warmth of her love. Linda Harkness leaves behind a legacy of adventure, compassion, and unwavering love. Her indomitable spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. As we bid her farewell, may we celebrate the life she lived and the love she shared, finding solace in the memories she leaves behind. Chimere and Adam,
We are very sorry for the loss of your Mom and John several years ago. I miss them both as friends and neighbors. Linda’s chocolate chip cookies were always welcomed and John was the last cowboy friend I had. I am not able to attend the service tomorrow due to a prior engagement out of town. But I wish you and your family the best and my door is always open or I’m just a phone call away if you want to talk. I haven’t been in your shoes yet but unfortunately in time I will and will know your grief. God Bless.
