Justin Alexander Bernal, age 20, passed away on June 26, 2021 in his home in Chicago. Justin was born in Chicago on January 1, 2001 to parents Theresa Bernal and Brian Sergel.
As a young man of not so many words at times, Justin definitely marched to the beat of his own drum. Being the oldest sibling, Justin would make sure his brother was taken care of, even when he didn’t want to show it, as expressing emotions wasn’t always his thing. Justin will forever be remembered for his huge appetite, his love for swimming, stubbornness, sarcasm and jokes.
Justin is survived by his cherished parents- Theresa and Brian; loving brother, Jayden.
Justin was a kind hearted young man who made it a point to show his ideas were right and found a way to make sense out of his own decisions. Justin was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin who left this world way too soon, taking a piece of all of us that will never be the same. He will forever be missed and in our hearts. Joining his great grandparents in heaven, we know he will always be watching down on us. Don’t be shy up there.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at St Richard Catholic Church, 5032 S. Kostner Ave., Chicago. Lying in state from 9:30 a.m. till the start of Mass- Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m.
We Little Knew
We little knew that morning, God was going to call your name, In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
