Jim Schiltz, beloved husband, father, and follower of Christ passed away at the age of 87 from complications related to brain cancer.
Jim was born April 5, 1936 in St. Joseph, MO to James Schiltz and Adelia Ruegsagger. He grew up in St. Jo and graduated LaFayette High School Class of ’54. He went on to obtain a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri. Jim then joined Caterpillar Tractor and spent six years with their international division in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. During this time he met his wife, Pat (in Baghdad) and after a whirlwind courtship, they married in 1964 and lived in South Africa and Kenya before returning to the States in 1968. Jim continued to hold various management positions in sales and marketing while helping raise two daughters and maintain properties (first in Ohio, then Wayne where they moved in 1979) while continuing to travel to over 60 countries. He also became active at church where his administrative abilities were always in demand helping to lead mission and educational trips around the world. Jim also enjoyed volunteering at the Northern IL Food Bank and leading men’s Bible studies.
