Daniel Joseph Lynn, age 71, surrounded by love, peacefully passed away on July 14th, 2023. Born in Council Bluffs, IA and grew up in Quincy, IL. He was a proud graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis, IL., Class of 1970. Go Pioneers!!
Dan moved to Chicago in 1985 and began a successful career as a Financial Advisor. He loved helping and guiding his clients toward achieving their financial goals and dreams before he retired in September 2021. He loved music, (he owned nine guitars!) art, cigars, wine, old fashioned cocktails, and his beloved Chicago Cubs and was a season ticket holder since 1996 and finally got to see them win the World Series in 2016.
He loved the water and Captain Dan enjoyed driving his boat Honor Thy Father, on Lake Michigan. He loved to cook and made the best ribs, and you were lucky if you got to enjoy them.
Dan was a lover of learning, was curious about the world and everything in it. Together with his wife Nancy, they traveled across the United States and to Argentina, China, Costa Rica, Gibraltar, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal, South Korea, and Spain.
Active member of St. Paul Church in Chicago, having served on its Financial Council and sang in the choir. He was a man of deep Catholic faith. It was his faith that sustained him during his two-year long battle with bile duct cancer, which he fought courageously with humor and grace.
Dan was a kind, compassionate, funny, strong, selfless and charitable man. He was mischievous, had a warm smile and there was always a twinkle in his eye. He was always the first person to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He always considered himself a blessed and lucky guy. He saw life as being full of opportunities and saw the best in everyone. He became fast friends with everyone he met. He touched countless lives and will be truly missed.
Dan is survived and missed by his loving wife of 17 years, Nancy Rocha; children Joseph and Sarah; grandchildren Dylan and Gabriella; sisters Rose (Ron) Hamann and Eileen Lynn; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, in laws and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Rosemary (Loper) Lynn, brother John Lynn and sister Kathleen Lynn.
May Dan’s memory be a blessing to all who loved and knew him.

Dear Nancy, Sarah, Joe, Dylan & Gabby
I’m deeply sorry for the loss of Dan…. husband, dad, grandpa…. I feel very fortunate that I got the chance to meet him . We shared some very good moments that I’ll cherish forever. I loved going to the wedding, spending Christmas together, Dan’s 70, and the visits to Chicago… even when he was so sick, that wonderful smile and conversations are treasures to keep.
I hope the many good memories shared with him and knowing he left beloved and cared for can help fight the weight of his absence. Sinatra’s song “My way” is what comes to my mind if I think of him. I’m convinced he left in peace and well beloved.
you are all in my heart. love. Paula

Dear Nancy, Mike and I are sending you all our love and prayers. Your Dan was such a beautiful, sweet man! My Mom, Aunt Betty always said he had twinkling eyes and was such a treasure. We are so happy we were able to spend some time together in the last few years. We are always here in Pennsylvania, just a call away if you need Anything. God Bless You and Dan and all the family. Dan is safe with his heavenly family and Our Lord Jesus.
