I found Dave to be a very compassionate and caring person to deal with. I contacted Dave after we found our mom was terminally ill. She had been saving his brochure for two years, and gave it to my Aunt when she suspected it was near the end of her time here. We checked his credentials with the BBB, NFDA, and IL Licensing board before I even called him. We found he had been a licensed funeral director for over two decades with never a complaint. Because I first called on a weekend, I reached the answering service and was very surprised how quickly he returned my call. I explained that our mom had just entered Hospice but we needed to start planning. He answered all my questions and explained that when the time came, please call him no matter what the hour; and in the meantime please look over his website as it will answer any other questions I might have. He explained that the process can be as “hands on” or “hands off” as we wished. That was a Saturday last October and Monday night after 10 pm I called him back crying because we had just watched our mom pass. He talked me through filling out the paperwork the hospital gave us and assured me that he would be there very early morning to pick up our mom, told me the exact address of where she would be taken to, and we set up a time to meet with him the next day at a time that was good for me and my sisters. After we met with him at the funeral home I was completely convinced that my mom had picked “the right guy” I never once felt like pricing was not exactly as it was explained and there were no surprises. There was one little snafu when we scanned my mom’s picture we were a bit crooked and didn’t realize it showed up that way on the website. My friend fixed it for me and Dave uploaded the new version very quickly and no matter what question or problem I needed help with Dave was always there to answer the phone or my txt messages right away. I would definitely recommend Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care for anyone who’s loved one has passed in the Chicago metro area. Dave understands that funerals, cremation, burial, non of these are things regular people are “practiced” at and its never easy. He will help make it easier.
