Marina G. Amaro was born on May 24, 1935 and passed away February 21, 2023 at the age of 87 surrounded by her loving family at her side.
Marina was born in Monterrey, Mexico and was on vacation in Chicago when she met her future husband Thomas R. Amaro Sr. They eventually settled in Pilsen, where they raised their family. Upon relocating to the United States, Marina worked as a hairdresser at her sister’s beauty salon. She later became a Data Entry Clerk for Continental Bank, currently known as Northern Trust Bank, where she retired from after 20 years. During her retirement, Marina spent much of her time with her family sharing her passion of crafting and dancing.
Marina was very creative and a crafter at heart, always saving the day when it came to school projects. She was known for being very strong and resilient, ready to face each obstacle head on. Her elegance and stylish ways also never went unnoticed but what will be remembered most of all is her kind heart, soft yet spirited voice, and unwavering love. She was truly regal in every sense of the word.
Marina is survived by her children: Susanna M. Amaro, Manuel A. (Teresa) Amaro, Thomas R. (Irma) Amaro, Jr., Adriana A. (Pepe) Jimenez, and Tizoc R. (Aide) Amaro; her grandchildren: Marina Villegas, Julio Villegas (Amanda Talty), Andy Shreve, Matthew (Allison) Shreve, Manuel II (Elena) Amaro, Noel Amaro (Leticia Arellano), Melanie Amaro, Thomas R. (Jasmin) Amaro III, Jessica (Steven) Rivas, Daniel Valdivia, Karina A. Jimenez (Andres Giraldo), Adam S. Jimenez (Tyler Jones), Gabriela T. (Michael) Jamraz, Mariano T. Amaro and Xochitl G. Amaro; and her great- grandchildren: Navi Rivas, Angeline Cervantes, Thomas R. Amaro IV, and Leonardo Amaro. She was also considered a loving mother and grandmother to many others.
Marina will be missed greatly by many and will forever live on in our hearts and memories.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church 6435 S. Kilbourn Ave. Chicago, IL 60629 at 9:00 am until the start of Celebration of Life Service/Mass at 10:00 am. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, 7201 S. Archer Avenue, Justice, IL 60458.
