Anna “Suzie” Berzanski (nee Ulatowska), 96, of Darien, IL, died on Sunday, November 6, 2022 of COVID-19. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward George, her parents Bernhard and Anna, and her dear sister, Geraldine Gronski. Anna is survived by her sons, Richard (Maureen) of Mundelein, IL and Michael (Noelle) of Chicago, IL and grandchildren Jill (Marcus) Bennett, Morgan (Dan) Fabry, Leanne, Karin and Brian. She had a large extended family that included great granddaughters, many nieces and nephews that she greatly loved.
Born in Nanticoke, PA, she was a coal miner’s daughter and learned the value of hard work, perseverance and sacrifice at a young age. Her father was killed in a coal mining accident when she was 7 years old, which left her mother alone with 2 young girls. She met and married the love of her life, Edward George, in 1947. They remained married for 58 years until his death in 2005. When most women of that time were stay-at-home mother’s, Anna chose to work and continue to provide for her family. She worked at Pepperidge Farm for 18 years before retiring in 1986. Anna was a loving mother who instilled a deep faith in her children and a concern for the well being of family members. She was a quiet, independent woman who had a sly sense of humor. Anna was an avid gardener and her love of flowers was on full display throughout the yard. She was an amazing woman who enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas.
A private service and interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery to lay her and her beloved husband to rest and be with their Lord.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made in her memory to Aaron’s Coffee Corner by clicking here: aaronscoffeecorner.org. Aaron’s Coffee Corner provides free, fresh coffee to families and caregivers of patients admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Ann and Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
