Rosario “Rose” Ramos Villacin passed away peacefully on Monday, the 7th of March in the company of family at a nursing home in Naperville, Illinois after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 77 years old.
Born in 1938 in City of Bacolod in the Philippines, Rose earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the East in Manila in 1967 and practiced as a physician until moving to Guam in 1974, and eventually to Chicago two years later.
She worked for over 25 years as an infusionist at Rush University Medical Center. It was also at Rush that she received a kidney transplant on Feb 17, 1991, for which she celebrated a 25 year anniversary this past February, thanks to the work of the University Transplant Team.
Rose always wanted the best for her and her family, and strived to enjoy her time no matter what she was doing. She was proud, strong willed, and had a witty sense of humor. She was frequently described as a “sweet lady” by the countless health care professionals that tended to her care over the years.
Loving mother of Anthony (Mary) Ramos; cherished grandmother of Ellie Rose, and Emma Kathleen Ramos; dear sibling of Purisima Tapalla, Concepcion Gumabong, Norberto Ramos, Romulo Ramos, and the late Carmen Cabana, Lourdes Hormigoso; fond tita to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral 9:00 am Friday from Adolf Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St., Willowbrook to St. Scholastica Church, Woodridge for 10 am Mass. Burial will be in Clarendon Hills Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 3-8 pm.
