Renee Alicia Holland was born in Cynthiana, KY to parents Katherine and Herman Holland. After graduation from Harrison County High School in 1965, she attended university of Kentucky shortly before moving to Chicago to attend nursing school at Truman College. Working at various hospitals in the Chicago area, including Rush Medical Center, St. Mary’s, Loyola and Chicago Osteopathic, she ended her career as a psychiatric nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 2014.
Renee spoke her truth, with a humorous outlook on life, making everyone love her and feel at ease. Spiritual and intuitive, she was the “go-to” person for advice. She was sociable and loved to 2-step.
Renee transitioned to a better place from Little Company of Mary Hospital Friday evening, March 19th from non-Covid respiratory complications after a surgical procedure.
Her main focus was her daughter Katrina Lucille, grandchildren Sydney Allen, Alicia Lucille, Audrey Alvina and her beloved life partner Taj Said. She is also survived by her aunt Alvina Simpson, sisters Patricia Reece and Audrey Holland, nieces Melody and Angela Carter along with numerous cousins and friends from around the country.
Renee is now free from pain, suffering and worry. We wish her peace: As an angel returned to her maker. We will forever miss and love her.
Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 26, 2021 at Kosary Funeral Home, 9837 S. Kedzie Ave., Evergreen Park.
