Susie Caldwell, age 49 passed away on March 6, 2025 at the University of Illinois in Chicago, surrounded by loved ones. Susie is survived by her mother, Anita Salgado, her children, Samantha Caldwell and Ralph Caldwell, and siblings: Javier Salgado, Cindy Salgado, Joel Salgado, and Adriana Salgado who will carry her humor, her love, and her legacy forward. Susie was preceded in life by her father Francisco Salgado, her dear brother Frankie Salgado and her grandmother Micaela Ibarra.
She was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her—full of laughter, kindness, and a quick wit that could make even the hardest days a little easier.
Susie had an incredible ability to turn ordinary moments into cherished memories. Her sense of humor was unmatched, her laughter contagious, and her presence always a source of joy. She brought warmth and happiness wherever she went. She lived life with enthusiasm, embracing adventure, mischief, and every opportunity to make people smile. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her love was unconditional.
Though we will miss her deeply, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the countless stories, inside jokes, and treasured memories she leaves behind. As we say goodbye, we do so with gratitude for the time we had and the love she gave so freely.
In honor of Susie, let’s remember to find joy in the little things, to laugh loudly and often, be a little mischievous and to always keep a bit of humor in our hearts.
Forever in Your Heart
Remember the good we shared, take time to celebrate me. Remember the joy and love we shared, and do not cry for me. I know that I will miss you and you will miss me too, but take some time to smile for me when you are sad or feeling blue. As you hold me in your memory even though we are apart, my spirit will live on forever in your heart.
