Salvador Torres, age 77, passed away suddenly on August 18, 2024 in Morelia, Michoacan, MX.
Salvador lived a full life filled with hard work, integrity, and generosity. He was a beloved and well respected member of the Pilsen community in Chicago, and of his hometown of Villa Morelos in Michoacán, MX. Despite the challenges of his early years, he was determined to build a better life and future for himself and his family. With courage and resilience, he immigrated to the United States and worked tirelessly to create a life of opportunity and success for his family. Through hard work and dedication, he became owner of “Caminos de Michoacan” in 1982 and made it the successful business that it is today. His work ethic and devotion to providing for his family earned him the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him. Despite his achievements, he remained humble and grounded, never forgetting where he came from and the values that were instilled in him.
Salvador was the epitome of strength, dedication, and a man whose greatest pride and joy was his family. He was the backbone of his family and a pillar of support and wisdom that guided them through all of life’s challenges.
He was a devoted husband to Bertha Torres for 48 years, a treasured father to Erika, Suzy, Salvador, and Edgar Torres, a loving grandfather to Romario Zavala, Daisy Alexandria, Lily Angelica, Jullian Torres, Jessica Vargas, Chavita Torres, Lexi Vargas, Camila Torres, and Nicolas Torres, and the sweetest great grandfather to Quetzalli Carmen.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the memories we shared with him and the knowledge that his spirit will always be with us.
Visitation will take place Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 3-8pm at Hursen Funeral Home 4001 Roosevelt Rd. Hillside, IL 60162. Funeral/Burial will take place Monday, August 26, 2024 at St. Pius V Church, 1901 S Ashland Ave. Chicago, IL 60608 at 11:00am and burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery 87th and Hamlin, Evergreen Park, IL 60805.
