Patsy Jean Banasiak, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023 surrounded by her family. Patsy was born on October 9, 1948, in Newport, Arkansas, a day that marked the start of a life filled with kindness, humor and a generous spirit.
Patsy was the daughter of Robert and Sally (Jones) McFarlin. The family moved to Chicago in the early 1950’s where Patsy remained a lifelong resident. From a child on the church bus, to a young mother making a church home for her family at Christian Fellowship Church, to her final church home, Hope Church Midway, Patsy found both her greatest comfort and her calling to serve others in the church.
Determined and unapologetic in her opinion, Patsy had a knack for taking care of those who were lost or struggling, and her legacy of kindness and generosity will long be remembered. Patsy had a passion for children, especially babies. Best friend to her husband, devoted mother and friend, her greatest joy in life was her three grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Barnabas Banasiak, her children, Amanda (Andrew) Padayao and Sally Banasiak, Phillip Scott (Brian Saubert) Banasiak, her treasured grandchildren, Aubrey Rose Banasiak, Stella Rose and Andrew Justin Padayao, and her siblings, Caroline Williams and Robert McFarlin. She was preceded in death by her son, Justin Todd Banasiak, her parents, and her sister, Mary Lou Tidwell.
As we celebrate the life of Patsy Banasiak, we remember a woman who was so much to so many. The lessons she left us will carry on, guiding us and reminding us of her enduring love and spirit.
Visitation for Patsy will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 11:00 am until time of Funeral Service, 2:00pm at Christian Fellowship Church, 4220 W. 59th Street, Chicago.
