Manuela “Nellie” Cardenas age 94 passed into eternal life on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at her residence in Pilsen, Chicago, Illinois. She is survived by her dear children: Angelina Bologna, Ernestina Kruml, Roger Cardenas and Lisa Cardenas. Nellie is also survived by her six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and a sister who resides in Mississippi. She lived to see five generations of what she and her husband began years ago.

Nellie was a long-time parishioner of St. Procopius Church and the Pilsen Community. For over 40 years she was the voice caller for the church bingo at all the church festivals and Kermesses. Nellie was a member of the Guadalupanas and the Ladies’ Social Club. Nellie also served as a Minister of Communion and Lector for the English Masses. She was a board member of the Ladies Social Club, serving as treasurer, as well as the Parish Council for many years. She worked for City of Chicago for the Golden Diner as a food Server for years.

Nellie loved to play dominos and 500 Rummy. She was active in the Pilsen Community as well as neighboring communities. Nellie is loved by many people and was the rock of her family. She will be greatly missed. She left us with so many wonderful memories and will live in the hearts of her family and friends.

Visitation: Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. lying in state until the start of the Celebration of Life Service/Mass to begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. at St. Procopius Church, 1200 West 18 th Street (Corner of 18 th Street & Allport Street) Chicago, Illinois 60608.
