James Arthur Coates Sr., age 76 passed away May 24, 2024 in Merriville, IN. He is survived by his wife Adrianne Coates (nee VanDeNorth), daughter Mary Ellen Coates, son James (Giovanni Duran) Coates Jr., and grandson Alexander Coates as well as sister Donna (Glenn) Waltman and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn (nee Bowers) and siblings, LaBerta (Ed) Nehs, Marillyn (Mac) Roberts and Russell (Norma) Bowers.
James was a proud Alumnus of the University of Chicago and a member of the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Chicago.
Visitation for James will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 2 until 6 p.m. with a funeral service at 5 p.m. at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL. Interment will be private.
