Irvin Jackson

Irvin Jackson Jr., passed away peacefully on August 10, 2016. You can honor Irv by:

Acknowledging and showing gratitude to those who make your life easier, such as the teller at the bank, the person who delivers the mail, picks up your trash or stocks shelves…lending a helping hand to someone who needs it. Smiling and nodding hello to a stranger, placing a few bills in the cup of the person on the street and making eye contact to let them know you see them as a person.

Making the world more beautiful by planting a tree, a bush or a flower.  Adding a fresh coat of paint where needed…enjoying a play, a concert, a museum or a good movie…digging almost all kinds of music, dancing at the drop of a hat, dressing in something sharp and thinking, “Irv would like this.”

Appreciating each day no matter the weather…listening to someone who needs an ear, reading a good book, smiling, laughing and hugging when and where it is possible…crying when called for-happy or sad tears…saying “please” and “thank you”.

Eliminating the words “should” and “ought” from your vocabulary…telling the truth, caring, being your best authentic self.  Adopting the “It is what it is” philosophy…having integrity.  Contributing time and/or money to a charity of your choice, one that stands for peace, justice diversity, education, the arts, nature conservancy, hospice…

All of these things are what Irv was about.  Perhaps the kindest, most thoughtful, loving person I have ever know. He loved all of you. I can’t imagine life without him.

Love Judy.

It was Irv’s wish that his body be cremated and that there not be a memorial service.
