It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jesus Gregory Carranza, 49 years old of Chicago, Illinois, on November 20, 2024 due to respiratory complications. Jesus passed peacefully, surrounded by love, leaving behind a life marked by strength, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that will never be forgotten.
Born in Chicago, IL, on November 7, 1975, to Jesus Cisneros and Julia Carranza, Jesus lived a life defined by overcoming adversity. Despite the challenges life threw his way, he remained a beacon of positivity and strength. He was a man of incredible spirit—larger than life itself—whose personality lit up every room he entered. His laughter was infectious, and his generosity knew no bounds. He lived with an open heart, always ready to help others, and found joy in the simplest things.
Jesus was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his loving siblings: Jacqueline (sister), Joshua, Alex Sr. (Olivia), and Jose (brothers); his nieces Eliana, Isabel (Colten), Julie, Ariel, Eileen; nephews Julian, Cesar Jr., Kaleb, Mando, and Alex Jr.; his beloved great-niece London; and a host of cousins, including Benny, Angel, Rudy, Carmen, and many other cherished relatives. Additionally, Jesus was deeply loved by two special children in his life, Mia and Vicki, who brought him immense joy and purpose in his later years. He is also survived by his maternal aunt Ruth (Richard), his mother’s last living sibling, whose love and support meant so much to Jesus and the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Cisneros and Julia Carranza, whose loss he carried with grace and love throughout his life.
As his sister, I had the honor of caring for Jesus for the past five years. Our bond was unbreakable, built on a foundation of unconditional love and deep understanding. Through the trials we faced together, we shared moments of laughter, strength, and tears. I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace, free from pain, and watching over all of us with the same love he gave so freely. You will always hold a special place in our hearts forever.
God’s plan is beyond our understanding and control, but we trust in His will.
A visitation will be held in Jesus’s honor on December 5, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Christian Fellowship Church, 4220 W 59th St, Chicago, IL. The service will begin at 6:30 PM, followed by a final visitation at the church on December 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM. We will then proceed to Beverly Cemetery, 12000 Kedzie Ave, Blue Island, IL, for a graveside service at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to assist with the arrangements and Jesus’s affairs. Your generosity will help honor his memory and ease the burden of his final wishes.
His legacy of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love will continue to resonate in the lives of those who were fortunate to know him. We are grateful for the time we had with him, and we find comfort knowing his spirit will continue to guide us.
Rest in peace, dear brother. You will never be forgotten.
